Migdol (hebrΓ€isch migdāl fΓΌr Turm; altΓ€gyptisch Mekter) ist die westsemitische Bezeichnung von BefestigungstΓΌrmen oder von kleinen Befestigungsanlagen. Im Alten Γ„gypten hießen die zumeist in GrenznΓ€he errichteten Befestigungsanlagen Mekter. Daneben fungierte ein Migdol beziehungsweise Mekter auch als Grenzkontrollpunkt fΓΌr Reisende, HΓ€ndler, umherziehende Nomaden und Boten.
